Donau Classic meets Family Festival: The BFFT 2016 Summer Festival

On 24 June, 2016, two topics were successfully combined at the Audi Sportpark – classic cars and family. The Ingolstadt FC football stadium not only hosted the BFFT-sponsored DONAU CLASSIC, it was also simultaneously the location of the traditional BFFT Summer Festival, which this year was designed to be a celebration for the whole family.

As in previous years, the BFFT Summer Festival had a lot to offer: a balmy 33 degrees, numerous attractions and plenty of good humour attracted about 600 visitors, consisting of BFFT employees with their partners and children, to the grounds of the Audi Sportpark. The unofficial programme followed the official BFFT time trials at the DONAU CLASSIC old-timer rally, which began at 3:30 pm.

The unofficial programme included an internal BFFT competition on the same track, starting at about 6:00 pm. 15 participants competed in a short race which had to be finished within a certain time. The event included a selection of different vehicles including old-timers and “young-timers” (such as a Setra S6, a VW Beetle convertible, a Mini Cooper and a Vespa Super Sprint 50). The three drivers who best matched the time were rewarded with petrol vouchers. BFFT Managing Director Markus Fichtner congratulated the drivers personally and then went on to present the awards for the recently completed BFFT E-bike campaign. Employees were also offered the opportunity of presenting their own 4-wheeled or 2-wheeled treasures in a private classic car exhibition.

However, the Summer Festival wasn’t just an event for car enthusiasts. It also offered small and large visitors the chance to show off their skills at the wheel of the race simulator provided by BFFT sponsoring partner Schanzer Racing Electric, jump around on a bouncy castle or, coinciding perfectly with the UEFA European Football Championship, to test their speed and accuracy in a goal-shooting contest. There were also some exciting giant table-football matches between teams from various BFFT departments and locations.

A selection of tasty food was provided by several food trucks, including freshly made burgers, burritos, pizza and frozen yoghurt – something for everyone. Seasonal thirsts were quenched at the Stiftl Alm and at a bar. To round off the evening, musical entertainment was provided by BFFT employees and the dancing continued until late at night with DJs Pyro and Sanrito.
