The “SchanzenGeber” initiative and the “11 for 11” campaign take over the BFFT fan sofa

Who or what is the “SchanzenGeber” initiative?

The FC Ingolstadt 04 (FCI) is combining its sociocultural, fitness and environmental awareness commitments under the social initiative, “SchanzenGeber”. Taking responsibility and setting a good example is an affair of the heart for the Schanzer [nickname of the FCI players]. With our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the FCI itself as a club as well as together with its partners seeks to create opportunities, recognize chances, embrace them, and build the necessary bridges. The commitment is to be structured, implemented and steadily enlarged under the overall “SchanzenGeber” brand. The FCI feels its obligation to its region and therefore seeks to create added-value in the social field, especially locally.

What is the “11 for 11” campaign?

In February 2010, the FC Ingolstadt 04 and the Ingolstadt Employment Agency began their joint “11 for 11” campaign. Its goal is to support the efforts of unemployed disabled persons to reintegrate themselves into the regional job market. Against a background of social responsibility in the face of the need for skilled personnel, it is very important to utilize all of the potential that is available.

The automotive technology developer, BFFT from Gaimersheim near Ingolstadt, has already been able to support this terrific campaign. Already in 2011, a BFFT colleague joined the Automotive Integration Team at BFFT, through a cooperative effort with local counseling workshops. Since then, he has done everything he can to support the mechanical systems workshop and has become indispensable in the process.

Another BFFT colleague has been working at BFFT since 2014 as a hardware developer in the area of Electrification/Energy Storage and is fully integrated into the daily work there. In addition, BFFT has hired two more colleagues with physical disabilities who bring just as much commitment to their jobs as test drivers as do their able-bodied colleagues.

By affording disabled persons the unique experience of the BFFT fan sofa, the game between the FC Ingolstadt 04 against SC Freiburg on December 21, 2016 fully reflected the SchanzenGeber initiative and the “11 for 11” campaign. As a result of its long-time partnership with the FC Ingolstadt 04, as well as its close collaboration with the local employment agency (represented by its spokesperson, Peter Kundinger), BFFT was able to offer to several disabled persons a small highlight of the pre-Christmas season. They were able to admire the Schanzer stars up-close from their seats in the first row of the Audi Sport Park. Normally, these seats are afforded to employees and company outsiders but on this particular date, they gladly surrendered their privileges.

Now that this last home game against the SC Freiburg is history, the BFFT fan sofa is joining the team in its winter intermission. On January 28, the Schanzer will be back in action against the Hamburg Sports Club. Then the team’s mission will once again turn to the task of ending the season in the first division.
