Schanzer Racing Electric Rollout 2014
On 31 May, the curtain went up in Westpark Plaza as the Formula Student racing team of the Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences unveiled its electric racing car for the 2014 season, the SRe14.
During the day, the Schanzer Racing Electric Team and BFFT offered Westpark visitors a varied programme at a family day. A wide range of activities was on offer for younger visitors in particular. In addition to attractions such as the mascots of the Ingolstadt hockey and football clubs, children could have their faces painted, play with Lego, or let off steam in the bouncy castle. There was also plenty for adults to do: if the mini carball arena wasn’t enough, they could try their hand at driving a Segway or a go-cart around a track.
As the main sponsor of the team, BFFT was also present at the event, with a stand and a nostalgic gripper arm game which was especially popular with children. The R8 Racer, which was remote-controlled by an iPhone, also attracted a lot of attention.
The event was rounded off by the big highlight of the day: the unveiling of the new vehicle before the sponsors, families and University representatives. The Schanzer Racing Team will be competing with the SRe14 in races at the Hockenheimring, in Italy and at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The new racing car is way ahead of its predecessor, especially as far as the lightweight construction is concerned: it is 52kg lighter than the previous year’s model, thanks to such innovations as a carbon monocoque chassis.
The BFFT team wishes Schanzer Racing Electric every success in the upcoming competitions!
