Is electro-mobility still a long way in the future? BFFT at Electro-Mobility Day.
Already in its 6th year, Electro-Mobility Day took place at Ingolstadt’s Technical University (THI) on 26th June 2016 (2 -7 pm). To allow more students to meet the exhibitors, it had been moved to a weekday. The focus of the event, which is organised regularly by THI and the Association of German Engineers (VDI), is on ‘Experiencing and discovering electro-mobility’. On this occasion, the exhibitors, a range of firms and organisations that included Audi, IAV and Schanzer Racing Electric, gave every interested visitor the opportunity to learn more about their areas of activity. A particular highlight for guests was seeing Audi’s e-tron quattro concept car on display. Other exhibitors also presented their current projects and developments in the field of electro-mobility. Attractions included talks, test drives and demonstrator vehicles, as well as a touring exhibition: ‘Bavaria/Saxony E-mobility showcase’. The climax of the event was the panel discussion at 6 pm entitled ‘Competing propulsion and fuel concepts towards a zero-emission future’.
BFFT has been involved with the idea of electro-mobility for many years, so it was only natural that Ingolstadt’s automotive engineering designers should also be represented with a trade stand. A particular feature was the battery on show with its specially constructed display case: this also gave striking emphasis to Ingolstadt’s political prominence.
Schanzer Racing Electric, THI’s student racing team, which has been supported from the outset by BFFT, was also represented at this 6th Electro-Mobility Day, with a converted driving simulator and a trade stand – which was located right next to the BFFT stand, underlining once more the close partnership between the students and BFFT.
