Donations instead of gifts: BFFT helps disadvantaged children
What’s the most effective way of helping others? That’s a question which BFFT has always found important, and is thus continuing to help support those in need in 2018. By voluntarily waiving a small birthday gift, BFFT employees raised a total of 3,000 euros for the charity Goals for Kids.
Goals for Kids is a charitable association of the German ice hockey league club ERC Ingolstadt, and is one of the social initiatives with which BFFT has been collaborating for several years. The electronics developers from nearby Gaimersheim have been supporting the Ingolstadt-based professional ice hockey club as partners since the 2013 / 2014 season, in which the club already received high acclaim and achieved great success.
The 3,000 euro donation follows another 2,000 euros raised by our subsidiary company BFFT aeromotive, so now the children also have good reason to celebrate. Last year, all BFFT employees were offered the choice of either claiming their birthday gifts or donating their value to Goals for Kids.
This opportunity was met with overwhelming support from the workforce: over 90 percent of all BFFT employees decided to pass on the value of their birthday presents to sick or socially disadvantaged children and adolescents in the region. The campaign even resulted in an international cooperation as the staff of BFFT Italia decided to participate as well, resulting in a total amount of just over 1,500 euros, which BFFT management generously doubled to a round sum of 3,000 euros.
At the beginning of February, the campaign came to an end and BFFT CEO Markus Fichtner presented a symbolic donation cheque to Steffi Praunsmandtl, President of Goals for Kids (on the left of the picture) and advisory committee member Stefanie Büchl. “It is with great pleasure that BFFT and I personally are able to offer this donation to help children who were previously less fortunate in their lives than many others. At BFFT, social responsibility includes making donations to select institutions in order to finance meaningful projects. Goals for Kids will use our donation to help young people in and around Ingolstadt, which makes this campaign even more appealing to BFFT” declared BFFT CEO Markus Fichtner.
Steffi Praunsmandtl was also particularly touched: “I am very pleased with the partnership and the BFFT campaign that raised this donation to support our projects for disadvantaged children. It is nice to see that the local community plays an important role for this international company.” The donation to Goals for Kids is not the first campaign of this kind from BFFT – for several years, the automotive technology developers have been supporting promising students with German scholarships and launched a blood donation campaign in cooperation with the Bavarian Red Cross.
BFFT would like to thank all its employees for their generosity and is very pleased that the donation will be put to good use by Goals for Kids.
