BFFT involved in the development of an electric bus

In 2006 BFFT already developed a concept for energy storage systems for hybridbusses of the public transport services in Berlin .In May 2013, BFFT and eight other companies now combined to form the E Bus Pro network. In a joint collaboration, they are developing an all-electric powered bus, suited to the regular city route service.

A special challenge is presented by the design of the battery system and charging technology, which is being handled by the BFFT electronics specialists in Berlin. In everyday city traffic, in order to compete with an ordinary bus with a combustion engine, an all-electric bus (without a permanent connection to the power grid like a trolley bus) needs to be as energy-efficient as possible – this is the only way to achieve a high range between charges. Together with its network partners, BFFT aims to realise the vision of the all-electric E Bus Pro by mid 2016.
