FOCUS Ranking 2016: Germany’s best work year
FOCUS magazine once again named automotive engineering developer BFFT Germany’s Best Employer. The company headquartered in Ingolstadt wants to be favorite employer and goes to great lengths throughout the year to claim that coveted title.
For the third year in a row, automotive engineering developer BFFT from Ingolstadt has been named recipient of the 2016 FOCUS award honoring “Germany’s Top Employer”. The renowned news magazine created the annual ranking in partnership with the career network Xing, the statistics portal Statista and the employer assessment portal kununu. Countless employees assess their own companies in that process. The latest award puts BFFT CEO Markus Fichtner another step closer to his goal of becoming “favorite employer”. “At this company, employee orientation is more than an empty phrase – it’s a value we live by”, explains Fichtner. A glance at the calendar proves him right:
As many as three times, BFFT has gone into a new year with the FOCUS award on “Germany’s Best Employer” under its belt. In 2014, the Bavarian company even came in at No. 1. Each time, CEO Markus Fichtner personally thanked his employees for their vote of confidence and daily hard work. His door is always open – to anybody, from workshop employees to department heads.
Next up is the BFFT ski trip, an all-inclusive package for all employees that includes a bus ride, ski pass, lodging and an unforgettable hut night. The event also serves as a networking opportunity among the staff and kicks off some 90 events offered by BFFT to its employees throughout the year.
In March 2015, BFFT Italia* was launched, joining already existing US operations in Silicon Valley and various locations in Germany and abroad that offer employees the chance to gain international experience.
Every year in April, Ingolstadt hosts the “Half Marathon Ingolstadt.” As a partner, BFFT has a visible presence on advertising spaces. In addition, many of its enthusiastic employees come out in force to join the run. Is there any better event to promote BFFT team spirit?
(Not only) in May, the “BFFT Fanmobil” (company bus) takes employees to entertainment venues outside of Ingolstadt. There’ve been trips to see a Deichkind concert, a FC Bayern basketball match, the Red Bull X-Fighters or DTM races with employees themselves picking the destinations: every year, they are surveyed about their interests and how satisfied they are with the offerings provided.
The Triathlon Ingolstadt has a major supporter in BFFT whose employees come out in large numbers each June to participate in the event. Above all, this partnership serves to motivate employees to stay active.
Every year, BFFT throws a big summer fest for the entire workforce. In recent years, surfing on the lake, a beach volleyball tournament and a Bella Italia-theme decorated parking deck at BFFT headquarters were among the offerings.
In the vacation month of August of all months, the workforce is particularly eager to show up for work. The start of the Bundesliga means tickets will be available for the coveted “BFFT Fansofa” (fan couch) at Audi Sportpark where employees get to cheer first division club and BFFT partner FC Ingolstadt from the sides.
The athletic theme continues with the start of the German hockey league. At the Saturn Arena, too, BFFT has secured premium seats at the BFFT Fansofa for employees through its partnership with ERC Ingolstadt.
Fall is movie time. Again, there will be a BFFT Fansofa at the CineStar movie theater in Ingolstadt. Tickets for selected movies covering all genres from Minions, Star Wars to James Bond along with snacks are regularly raffled off to employees.
When the days get darker, many are drawn to the gym. BFFT employees are already close to the action. The 4th floor of the modern BFFT headquarters houses a top-of-the-line gym with personal trainers, yoga room and much more.
BFFT’s much-anticipated Christmas party is an annual opportunity for management to express their gratitude to employees for their commitment and dedication. On occasions like that, it’s not unheard of for management to rent a whole water park or to transform a factory hall into a black and white dance floor, providing a crowning finish to Germany’s best work year.
*The company is under the management and coordination of BFFT Gesellschaft für Fahrzeugtechnik mbH.
