Firstbird: The BFFT talent-scouting challenge
BFFT has been working with the Firstbird employee referral programme since March 2015 and has frequently used it to recruit talented new employees that might never have found their way to working for the electronics specialists in Gaimersheim if they had used the standard application procedure.
Firstbird itself was founded about five years ago, and was launched with the intention of bringing people and jobs together in the most natural and efficient way possible: through personal acquaintances and recommendations. Employees can use the online service either to recommend talented individuals to their own company, or to share vacancies with their friends and acquaintances. This allows every employee to make a positive contribution to shaping the company as a whole. Things also go a lot more smoothly if the people who you are working with are also friends and acquaintances.
Just how well such a recommendation can turn out can be demonstrated by using the example of Tobias K. and Christian H.: Tobias, who originally worked in the aviation industry, has been a part of the BFFT team since August 2015, and is currently developing energy systems in the electrification section. His cousin Christian, an automotive industry engineer, had worked for several of BFFT’s competitors for many years before he and Tobias went for a beer together one evening and finally came up with the idea of combining their friendship with their careers. Tobias sent in his referral via Firstbird the same evening, and then everything happened very quickly: just two weeks later, Christian attended an informal interview with his future boss, the chemistry was right and he has been a happy member of the BFFT team since July 2017.
And it gets even better: Firstbird awards points for every shared job and every recommended employee – so scouting for talent is a kind of competitive challenge. BFFT takes things a step further and offers a bonus of 1000 Euros for every successful recruitment – so it’s a rewarding experience in more ways than one!
