Running to balance the workday – BFFT participates in Ingolstadt’s 2016 Half-Marathon
Perfect weather shone down on schedule as all the local running enthusiasts lined up for the 16th running of Ingolstadt’s Half-Marathon on April 30. So perhaps it wasn’t so surprising that 3,000 participants showed up once again, ready to tackle the diverse course which runs right through Ingolstadt. Whether on the 4.25 mile long FitnessRun & Walk or the 13.1 mile long half-marathon distance, the many male and female athletes showed one more time that this running event organized by Roland Muck and Roland Knoll is very popular in Ingolstadt. The optimal conditions also lured many spectators to the scene. They positioned themselves all along the route and vigorously spurred the participants on.
The new half-marathon course through Ingolstadt’s Old Town and the Luitpold Park proved itself to be a running circuit of the very best quality. The two Kenyans, Maritim Filimon Kipkorir and Pauline Esikon triumphed, each with a new course record (1:02:49 and 1:12:54 respectively).
BFFT was also a sponsor of the running event once again this year and went to the starting line of both races with several colleagues enthusiastic about testing their endurance. Active sporting events are popular with BFFT employees and offer an ideal counterbalance to work. The varied loop through the city and the greenbelt around Ingolstadt had all the athletes’ hearts beating a little faster. What’s more, BFFT used the opportunity to do a little marketing along the way. Among other things, BFFT established a central corporate meeting point where the athletes could prepare, fortify themselves with fruit and snacks and regain their strength after the event on the BFFT Fansofa (fan couch).
