A balancing act on 2 wheels: the ADAC Indoor Motorcycle Competition 2016
For a pure adrenalin rush, it would have been hard to beat the third edition of the ADAC Indoor Motorcycle Competition at Ingolstadt’s Saturn Arena on January 30. In front of more than 3,000 spectators, ten drivers selected from the German and European elite competed in a sporty mix of thrilling duels and breathtaking balancing acts on 2 wheels. From the incumbent 2-time German champion Franzi Kadlec, the incumbent European champion Gianluca Tournour to the 2015 Norwegian champion Håkon Pedersen—they all had to use their machines to conquer meter-high impediments, balance across narrow obstacles, and complete daring jumps with their motorcycles.
As in previous editions of the event, the competition was carried out in six different sections and the best chances for victory came to those drivers with the fewest penalty points. The places on the podium were finally secured in an exciting finish by the Norwegian Håkon Pedersen (2 penalty points), followed by Franzi Kadlec (6 penalty points) and Gianluca Tournour (7 penalty points). The ADAC Indoor Competition did not just provide gripping motorsport action but thanks to a diversified program (trial fair, driver’s autograph session, etc.), it became an approximately 4-hour long variety show for the entire family.
BFFT, since 2014 the sponsor of this event, was also involved this year in several unusual promotions: besides raffling off several stadium tickets and exclusive seats on the BFFT fan sofa to employees, it also provided a special highlight with its “behind the scenes” passes. These afforded the chance to take a peek behind the curtains as well as to speak directly to the driver/mechanics. In addition, BFFT was represented by its own BFFT seating section, a BFFT arch and the BFFT fan sofa directly on the course.
