Motorsport up close: BFFT at the ADAC Norisring Speedweekend
It is the highlight of the DTM calendar: the Norisring. The spectacular street circuit in Nuremberg, the only one of its kind remaining in Germany, is loved by fans and drivers alike. There is a lot offered in the framework of the International ADAC Norising Speedweekend aside from the DTM race: Audi Sport TT Cup, FIA Formula 3 European Championship, Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, as well as a top-class event program around the circuit. This is reason enough for the automotive engineering developer BFFT to make an unforgettable weekend possible for some motorsport fans:
On Saturday, June 27, a 20-member group of BFFT directors, department heads and employees who deal with Audi Sport in their work at BFFT drove to Nuremberg. In the course of a pit lane tour, they were granted up-close glimpses of the Audi Sport TT Cup, held for the first time in 2015. In this series, 24 from the quattro GmbH-developed Audi Sport TT cup participate in a total of 12 races, divided into six DTM events. Detlef Schmidt, technical project manager for the new brand trophy, explained the highlights to BFFT’s employees. The racing version of the Audi TT, the “Audi TT cup”, reaches a whopping 310 HP at only 1125 kg. Thanks to a push-to-pass function, this performance can increase by another 30 HP for a short time. An exciting day for BFFT’s employees concluded after a meeting with an old acquaintance: Audi Sport TT Cup driver Christoph Hofbauer was the driver of the formula student team “Schanzer Racing Electric” (SRE), and thus a familiar face for SRE’s main sponsor, BFFT.
On Sunday, June 28, the BFFT Fanmobil (“fan truck”) brought more employees to the Norisring, including three winners chosen through the BFFT Facebook page, just like last year. They experienced a hot day of motorsports, not only due to air temperatures approaching 30 degree Celsius. Fast cars made the hearts of motorsport fans beat even faster, not just on the race track (at the Audi Sport TT Cup, FIA Formula 3, Porsche Carrera Cup, and DTM), but also at many well-attended stands of exhibitors who presented their newest vehicles.
