BFFT E-Bike Campaign: Employees bike over 17,000 km

Promoting health, protecting the environment and saving money, too? This summer, the automotive engineering developer offered its employees more reasons to opt for bicycles with an innovative E-bike Campaign.

Get on the bike and you can boost your health, save the environment and save money, too! It’s not so easy for many commuters. They often have a long commute to work or do not want to get to office sweaty. Therefore, the automotive engineering developer BFFT launched a very special campaign in summer 2016: The BFFT E-Bike Campaign is intended to inspire the Ingolstadt company employees to ride the bike more often.

The starting signal was given in April at a kick-off event, where the employees were informed of the campaign. In cooperation with a local bike dealer, various E-Bikes were also made available for test rides. Starting from 23 May, about 800 BFFT employees were called upon at all sites to bike as much as possible for an entire month – to work, to customer appointments, for shopping, to the lake, etc. In addition to the positive impact on health, wallet and the environment, they were offered as incentive the possibility of borrowing E-bikes free of charge and win attractive prizes – from shopping vouchers to VIP tickets at BFFT sponsoring partner FC Ingolstadt. The daily cycled kilometers were entered into the company intranet. There, an up-to-the-minute counter showed the distance cycled so far and the resulting savings in CO2.

The final counter reading is impressive: BFFT employees have jointly biked 17,313 km in one month. If they were to drive the same distance by car, they would have emitted about 3,030 kg CO2 – thereby the environment was spared these emissions. BFFT also benefits from the biking of its employees: Those who come to work by bike instead of by car are fitter and therefore more efficient and also relieve the company parking spaces and pool vehicles.

BFFT Managing Director Markus Fichtner is also happy about another aspect: “Our employees work on exciting areas of development of the automotive industry, such as electric mobility. As part of the campaign, they can test the E-bikes and therefore actively experience the possibilities of this trendy topic.”
