Schanzer Racing Electric: Convincing performance at the Hockenheim-Ring
It was already the third occasion when the ‘SRE’ – Schanzer Racing Electric Formula Student Team of the ‘TH’ – Polytechnic Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany entered its self-developed electric racing car in competitions at a meeting at the Hockenheim-Ring. There, the students had to step up again with their new ‘SRe14’ formula racer in a variety of competitions ‘on track’ as well as ‘alongside the track’ and produce convincing performances. There were around 115 entered teams attending from all over the world and of these, only 40 were able to qualify for the main competitive event.
During the course of the competition, ‘SRe14’ was required to master several static disciplines (cost report, design report and business plan) as well as to prove itself in dynamic disciplines (acceleration, skid pad, autocross and endurance tests) as successfully as possible. Unfortunately, as a result of a failing in the technical approvals for the skid pad discipline, the Schanzer Racing Team was prevented from taking part in that discipline. Despite the technical difficulties however, the Schanzer Racing Team was able to claim an eighth place in the toughly fought prestigious competition under the top ten.
As its main sponsor, BFFT congratulates the Schanzer Racing Team and wishes much success in the up and coming competitions in Italy and Austria.
